Business and Education-Dialogue: Discussion at COAF Smart Centre
In collaboration with “Children of Armenia” and “Business and Education Partnership”, funds, within the framework of German “Vocational Education and Training (VET) – Partnership” Program, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport organized a workshop on topic “Business and Education-Dialogue” which was held in COAF Smart Centre in Debed community, Lori marz.
The main goal of the conference was to establish and upgrade the relationship between the labor market and vocational education and training, foster VET system development, enhance the development of education-labor market dialogue in regions.
The deputy governor of Lori marz Gayane Markosyan highlighted the importance of such discussions, “It is very concerning that on the one hand we have a huge army of young people with higher or vocational education, on the other hand there is quite a large number of vacancies in various fields which are not recruited for years due to the shortage of specialist staff. Thus, the reforms, launched by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport with the support of international organizations and foundations, are welcoming and of great importance.” stated Gayane Marlosyan, hoping that the real needs and demands of the labor market in Lori region, as well as the role of cooperation between the enterprises and VET Institutions will be fully revealed during the conference.
The main speaker Artak Aghbalyan, head of the Preliminary (craftsmanship) and Vocational Education Department of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, introduced a presentation on “The Development Trends and the Course of Reforms Implemented in VET” highlighting the importance of cooperation with employers in VET as well as implementation of new professions in regard with labor market demands.
After the main reports, a focus group discussion was organized on the issues of business and education-dialogue, the roles and responsibilities of partners, and the tools and formats to support business and education-dialogue.
