Armenia joins Intel International Science and Technology Fair
For the first time, this academic year high school students of Armenia will have the opportunity to present their innovative ideas at Intel International Science and Engineering Fair with a prize fund of $5 million.
The Armenian students should present their research projects, which are graded in according to international standards, in order to participate in a festival which gathers about 1800 students from over 75 countries worldwide every year.
The participants who overcome this stage will have the opportunity to participate in Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in the US in 2020, present their projects and compete with other participants.
The first place winner project of the competition is awarded the Gordon Moore Award with $ 75,000.
In regard to Armenia’s participation in Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan highlighted that thanks to such projects students start to get interested in science at an early age.
“Science has been cut off from society for years, therefore many scientific researches haven’t been implemented in real life and haven’t complied with existing requirements. Our goal now is to bring science back to educational institutions for our young people to be able to learn to explore and create the new. In this regard Armenia’s participation in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair is a big step forward.” - stated the Minister.
Festival participants compete in 22 fields, including Mathematics, Physics, Astronomy, Biochemistry, Robotics and more. In addition to the first-place prize, the competition also has two awards of $ 50,000 each. Other awards are also offered in individual areas, with awards of $ 3,000 1,500, $ 1,000 and $ 500 respectively. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia will make a separate announcement on the process and standards of the competition.
