Armenian-Chinese Scientific-Educational Cooperation
The RA Minister of Education and Science, Arayik Harutyunyan, had a working meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of People's Republic of China to Armenia, Tian Erlong. In his speech the Minister of Education and Science emphasized that the effective and mutually beneficial cooperation with China in the education system has great opportunities for enlargement. Arayik Harutyunyan touching upon the programs implemented in the previous year with the Chinese side noted that in Armenia there is a great interest in studying the Chinese and its culture. One of its manifestations is the unprecedented activity of the applicants at the opening of the “Armenian-Chinese Friendship School”.
According to the Minister, in recent years the interest of the Armenian youth in getting education in the higher educational institutions of China has been noticeably increased. Minister Arayik Harutyunyan noted that there is also a great potential for expanding cooperation in the field of science, particularly in information technologies and artificial intelligence programs.
In this context, Arayik Harutyunyan stated that in May he is invited to participate in the International Conference on “Artificial Intelligence” in Beijing, which will in its turn contribute to the implementation of joint programs in this direction.
Ambassador Tian Erlong stressed the effectiveness of the Armenian-Chinese educational cooperation and expressed willingness to take the necessary measures to implement and expand existing programs. In this context particularly the great importance is given to the expanding opportunities of Chinese Language Center of Confucius Institute at Yerevan State University of Languages and Social Sciences.
At the meeting the parties touched upon a number of other issues concerning to Armenian-Chinese cooperation.
