RA-UAE: Practical Steps Aimed at Scientific-Educational Cooperation
The RA Minister of Education and Science, Arayik Harutyunyan, hosted the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Armenia, Jassim Mohamed Al Qasemi.
Emphasizing the importance of cooperation with the Arab countries, the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia expressed confidence that the cooperation with the friendly country, especially in the field of education, would be tight and productive. Touching upon the Memorandum of Understanding “on the scientific and technical cooperation signed between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the United Arab Emirates” in 2016, Arayik Harutyunyan underlined that there is a need for practical steps to implement the provisions, which will promote the strengthening of relations between two countries in the spheres of Science, Technology and Innovation.
In his turn, highlighting the implementation of the Memorandum, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates emphasized that the session of the intergovernmental economic commission of the two countries, which is scheduled for May in Armenia, can greatly promote it.
The Ambassador of the UAE assured that he will make maximum efforts to develop bilateral relations in that sphere and in this context, the Minister has proposed to consider the opportunity to get acquainted with the activity of the UAE scientific-educational system on the spot. The parties expressed confidence that the mutual visits of state officials coordinating the spheres of education and science of the two countries will promote the expansion and development of relations and will contribute to practical steps.
Minister Harutyunyan highly appreciated the Ambassador's willingness to cooperate and stressed that Armenia's education system, which is in the reform stage, needs the support of truly friendly countries. In that context the Minister of Education and Science of the RA emphasized the importance of studying the United Arab Emirates' experience in Artificial Intelligence and Inclusive Education.
At the meeting, both parties touched upon the exchange of students and lecturers in the system of higher education, the organization of training, the possibility of introducing Arabic as a general language elective in some schools and a number of other issues.
