A New Initiative Aimed at Developing Light Industry
Today, the Ministry of Education and Science, Yerevan State College of Light Industry and Alex Textile LLC signed a memorandum of cooperation by which the parties undertake to train specialists in secondary and primary vocational educational programs in accordance with the requirements in the light industry and the labor market.
Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Armenia Grisha Tamrazyan, in his welcoming speech, noted the importance of establishing such a cooperation to strengthen the ties between the labor market and education. "One of the most important pillars of our country is the light industry, and developing it is a priority. And the advancement of the economy without developing special secondary and vocational education and cutthroat personnel is impossible. Being a strong and unique type of cooperation, this model will help the employer prepare staff not to only attract the structure of the industry, but to develop it and encourage the competitive spirit. Training specialists to be competitive will reduce the rate of poverty in our country and that in itself is a priority of the Government," the Deputy Minister noted.
Artak Aghbalyan, who is the head of the primary vocational and secondary specialized education department, in turn, said that the signing of the memorandum is a significant event in the field of vocational education and training, stressing the importance of cooperation between the private sector and education. "In terms of contract investments, this is indeed a remarkable step when a private business cooperates with the education sector not only by joining boards of management, and involvement in the training process, but also in investment," Artak Agbalyan said, thanking Alex Textile company for such a collaboration.
The director of Alex Textile LLC, Marat Movsisyan, said that with the help of the memorandum, college students will be given the opportunity to find a future job in the company. "Of course, we do not set any prerequisites for students to start working for us, we just create attractive working conditions for them. Naturally, we also have the problem of qualified personnel. The Government and "Alex Textile" should join forces to help develop the light industry, which is crucial for our country, " he said, adding that within the framework of the memorandum, the Yerevan State College of Light Industry building will be renovated and furnished with modern equipment.
Note that according to the memorandum, the parties will regularly conduct short-term training and retraining courses for specialists, in accordance with the proposals and requirements submitted by the companies, develop the necessary professional models, taking into account the details of the work and enhance developments, as well as organize informational meetings for students and conduct educational field trips to the company, etc. In addition, the parties will promote the employment of professionals who have successfully completed secondary and elementary vocational educational programs, bringing in specialist of the field from Yerevan into different regions of Armenia, etc.
